The Project...
The first thing that struck Simon and I when we first visited The Barn was the spectacular view stretching out over the River Dee towards Llangollen, the Berwyn Mountains and beyond.
It was a fine day on the appropriately named Sun Bank and, although the barn was little more than a ruin, we knew instantly that this could be the home we had always imagined.
Some 12 months later, with significant investment, a fair few headaches; and plenty of hard work from a dedicated team of craftsmen our Grade II Listed dream house is almost complete.
Our main aim for the inside of the house had been to preserve as many of the original features as possible - including the ancient timbers, the beautiful stone work - whilst subtly introducing some of the luxuries that are available in the 21st century - like under floor heating and some very special fixtures and fittings.
When it came to the outside, we wanted to ensure that the newly converted barn would not look out of place in this unique landscape.
Throughout the project, our focus was to make the most of the incredible views that made us fall in love with The Barn in the first place.
We feel sure that we have succeeded in all these aims and we hope you'll love the place as much as we do.
